The Mother's International School
The Mother’s International School (The MIS), established on April 23, 1956, is a prestigious co-educational institution located in New Delhi, on the serene campus of the Sri Aurobindo Ashram. Founded by Surendra Nath Jauhar, the school is affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and offers classes from Pre-School through Class XII.
With approximately 2,500 students and a sprawling campus spread across nearly nine acres, MIS provides a tranquil and nurturing environment for learning and growth. The school’s educational philosophy is deeply inspired by the teachings of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother, emphasizing Integral Education—an approach that fosters the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual development of every student.

A Community of Learners
From toddlers to teenagers, from educators to volunteers, the campus brings together a diverse, intergenerational community united by a shared ideal — to grow inwardly, serve selflessly, and live consciously.
Children learn not only from books, but also through gardening, art, silence, play, nature walks, drama, service projects, and—most importantly—from one another.
Daily life at the campus is enriched with:
Collective meditations and assemblies
Music, dance, theatre, and visual arts
Cultural celebrations and spiritual observances
Workshops on sustainability, leadership, and well-being
Learning Through Doing
A spirit of self-reliance and practical engagement permeates campus life. Children and youth participate in:
Campus upkeep and gardening
Artisanal work like handmade paper, craft, and design
Vocational training in carpentry, electrical work, and more
Eco-conscious activities like waste segregation and tree planting
This hands-on approach fosters a sense of responsibility, dignity of labour, and a connection to the physical world — all part of Sri Aurobindo’s vision of integrated development.
A Space for the Soul
The Ashram campus is also a sacred space for spiritual practice and inner work. With quiet meditation rooms, collective chanting, access to spiritual texts, and the living presence of The Mother and Sri Aurobindo's legacy, the atmosphere invites each individual to go within — and grow from within.
Here, children are not only encouraged to ask questions of the world — but of themselves.

Give with Purpose. Grow with Us.
At the Sri Aurobindo Education Society, education is more than instruction — it is a sacred offering, a way to build a conscious, compassionate, and creative future.
Over the decades, our work has touched thousands of lives — nurturing young minds through Integral Education, supporting children from economically weaker sections, empowering youth through vocational training, and cultivating spiritual, environmental, and cultural awareness in schools and communities.
This work continues because of the collective goodwill and generosity of individuals, volunteers, and institutions who believe in the same ideal:
Education should help every soul discover its truth and live it fully.
